Risk Management
The Need for Risk Management Response
While risk management was naturally implicit in the decision-making process of any company, it has become explicit in recent years, in response to a growing awareness of risk management. Increasingly, companies are using various types of risk factors to conduct more sophisticated risk management, for example, specializing in environmental risks or in information security risks. In line with this trend, more and more companies are developing their traditional risk management departments and establishing specialized departments dedicated to risk management.
- With the enforcement of the Companies Act in 2006, it became necessary for joint-stock companies to establish a "system for managing the risk of loss.
- The Japanese version of the SOX Act will be enforced in fiscal 2008, requiring the development of a risk management system for financial affairs.
